Eight Baseball Players Named To Academic All-League Team

WORCESTER, Mass. - Eight members of the Holy Cross baseball team have been selected to the 2006 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office. Leading the Crusaders was junior outfielder Matt Perron (Auburn, Mass.), who posted a 3.60 grade point average during the spring semester.

Joining Perron on the Academic Honor Roll were junior pitcher Kevin Beglane (East Longmeadow, Mass.), freshman outfielder Billy Cupelo (Franklin, Mass.), sophomore outfielder Gil Gomez (Lake Worth, Fla.), junior pitcher Rob Oteri (Sudbury, Mass.), junior outfielder Norm Roth (Orange, Conn.), sophomore pitcher Mike Thater (Danbury, Conn.) and sophomore pitcher Tim Thran (Fall River, Mass.).

A total of 45 student-athletes from baseball teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of 3.20 or better during the spring semester, and be a starter or key reserve on his team.
