Holy Cross Baseball Announces 2009 Team Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross baseball team has announced seniors Jake Gorman (Norfolk, Mass.) and Dan Seip (North Carver, Mass.) and junior John Sills (Milton, Mass.) as the 2009 team tri-captains.
In 41 starts in the infield, Gorman finished the 2008 season ranked first on the team in home runs (five) and in triples (three), second in doubles (14), second in assists (124), and sixth on the team in batting average (.270). Last season, he saw action in 24 games and made 23 starts, finishing second on the team in batting average (.325) and tied for first on the team in home runs (five). During his freshman year, he was named to the All-Patriot League second team.
A right handed pitcher, Seip made 13 appearances this year, including nine starts and was ranked fourth on the team in strikeouts with 35. He was ranked fifth on the team in earned run average and finished with a 1-5 record. In 2007, Seip picked up a 3-3 record in 11 appearances with seven starts. During his freshman year in 2006, he led the team in strikeouts with 40 and posted a 5-2 record in 11 appearances with eight starts.
Making 47 starts in the infield, Sills led the team in assists this year with 143. He finished the 2008 season with a .201 batting average, five doubles, two triples, 17 runs scored and 17 RBIs. During his freshman year in 2007, he appeared in 19 games and made 12 starts. He batted .200 with two doubles, one triple, scored eight runs, and had five RBIs.
