WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior outfielder Norm Roth (Oragne, Conn.), a member of the Holy Cross baseball team, has received the 2006 Ray Dobens Award. The award was presented at the 52nd Annual Varsity Club Dinner, held at the Hogan Campus Center on Saturday, May 6.
The Dobens Awardis presented each year to the most improved player on the Crusader baseball team. After entering the season with a .215 career batting average in only 24 games played, Roth developed into one of the Crusaders' top players this season. He played in 39 games this year with 38 starts, batting .319 with 32 runs scored, 16 runs batted in and nine doubles.
