Tyler Stampone Receives Ron Soucie Award

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman third baseman Tyler Stampone (Meadowbrook, Pa.) has been named the 2006 recipient of the Ron Soucie Award. Created by his Rick DeAngelis (Class of 1970) and Tom Kelly (Class of 1967), the Soucie Award is presented annually to the Rookie of the Year on the Holy Cross baseball team.

During the 2006 season, Stampone became the starting third baseman for the Crusaders, playing in 35 games with 32 starts. He posted a .285 batting average with a home run and 16 runs batted in. In addition, Stampone totaled five doubles and 16 runs scored, with a .348 on-base percentage.
