Bobby Holmes Receives Ron Soucie Award

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman pitcher Bobby Holmes (Dedham, Mass.) has been named the 2007 recipient of the Ron Soucie Award. Created by his Rick DeAngelis (Class of 1970) and Tom Kelly (Class of 1967), the Soucie Award is presented annually to the Rookie of the Year on the Holy Cross baseball team.
During the 2007 season, Holmes developed into a key part of the Crusader pitching staff, appearing in five games with three starts. He posted a 1-1 record on the season, while his 4.15 earned run average was the third best on the team. In 17-1/3 innings pitched this year, Holmes struck out 12 batters while allowing just six walks and 18 hits.
