WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross baseball doubleheader with Army that was rained out on April 15 will be made up this week at Doubleday Field in West Point, N.Y. because the results impact the ranking of the teams in the Patriot League Tournament, as Army (11-7) is percentage points ahead of third place Navy (12-8) for the second spot in the tournament. Lafayette clinched the top spot this weekend.
On Thursday, May 3, the two teams will play a seven-inning game at 5:00 p.m. If Army wins the teams will not play the second game of the doubleheader, but if the Crusaders win the second game will be a nine-inning contest and will be played on Friday, May 4 at noon.
Army would earn the second spot in the tournament with a win in either game. If Holy Cross sweeps the doubleheader, Navy would move into second place in the final regular-season standings and earn the second spot in the tournament.
The Crusaders are 12-22 overall (8-10 Patriot League), while the Black Knights are 20-19-1 overall (11-7 Patriot League).
