WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior pitcher Scott Hampe (Dedham, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week for throwing his first collegiate no-hitter in the 4-0 seven-inning victory over Lehigh on Saturday, April 7. His no-hitter is just the eighth in the 17-year history of Patriot League baseball and just the sixth solo no-hitter. Hampe has also received three national honors this week as he was named to the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll, the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and his no-hitter was named a Spotlight Performance of the Week by PINGBASEBALL.COM. The no-hitter is the 10th in Holy Cross history.
Hampe was outstanding as he pitched seven no-hit innings with four strikeouts. He is now 2-1 on the season with a team-leading 2.25 ERA.
The Crusaders return to action today, Tuesday, April 10, when they travel to Brookline, Mass., to take on Northeastern at 3:00 p.m.
