WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior third baseman Matt Perry (Sudbury, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week for his performance during the week of March 31-April 5. Perry batted .500 (12-24) last week, including hitting four home runs and three doubles, driving in 10 RBI and scoring eight runs as the Holy Cross baseball team went 4-2, including two league wins over Army. This is Perry's first weekly career award.
On Saturday, April 4, Perry led the league twinbill sweep over Army as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in an 11-2 Crusader win in game one and was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the second game. On Wednesday, April 1, Perry had a double, three RBI and three runs scored in the Crusaders 12-11 road victory against Harvard. On March 31, Perry hit a solo home run in the 6-5 win over visiting Massachusetts. Perry leads the Patriot League in home runs with six and is currently tied for second in doubles (10) and ranked fourth in the league in batting average (.387). He also leads the league in on base percentage (.484) and slugging percentage (.688).
The Crusaders wrap up a six-game road trip, traveling to Hartford on Wednesday, April 8, for a game scheduled at 3:00 p.m.
