Lubbock, Texas -
Holy Cross junior right hander Mike Miller (Wayzata, Minn.) was named to the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll, for the week through March 14, as announced by organization officials on Tuesday morning. This is Miller's first national honor.
The six-foot-two Miller had a stellar outing in Holy Cross' 4-0 win over Yale on Friday afternoon at Academy Park in Bradenton, Fla., after throwing seven shutout innings and striking out eight batters on his way to his first win of the season. Miller silenced the Yale offense, which was hitting .317 with two outs and .333 with runners in scoring position going into the game. Against Miller, the Bulldogs left 11 men on base and failed to score a run for the first time this season.
Holy Cross finished the week with a 5-3 overall mark.
The Crusaders are back on the road on Wednesday, March 15, when they travel to Albany for a 3:00 PM game against the Great Danes. The Crusaders' home opener is scheduled for Thursday, March 16, at the newly renovated Fitton Baseball Field. Holy Cross will take on cross-town rival Assumption at 4:00 PM. It will be the team's first game on its home field since the 2004 season.
