WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior second baseman Jake Gorman (Norfolk, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week for his performance during March 3-9 at the Rollins Baseball Week Tournament. Gorman hit a .387 (12-for-31) with nine runs scored, six RBIs, and one home run.
Gorman led the Crusaders to post a 4-3 record at the tournament, recording at least one hit in every game including four doubles and one triple. During the first of two 11-inning victories against Saint Joseph's on Mar. 6, Gorman went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI as the Crusaders defeated the Hawks, 8-6. Against St. Joseph's on Mar. 8, Gorman went 2-for-6, scoring two runs and driving in a run as Holy Cross won, 7-6. For his efforts in the tournament, Gorman was named to the Rollins Baseball Week All-Tournament Team.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, when they travel to Washington in a four-game series. Each doubleheader will start at 3:00 p.m.
