Baseball Picked Third In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross baseball team has been picked to finish third in the 2009 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Army was picked to finish first as it earned eight of 12 first place votes and 48 points. Navy earned two first place votes and 37 total points as it was picked to finish second followed by Holy Cross ranked with third with one first place vote and 30 points. Ranked fourth was Bucknell with 24 points followed by Lafayette (one first place vote, 24 total points) and Lehigh finishing sixth with 17 total points.
The Crusaders are set to kick off the 2009 season when they travel to Loyola Marymount for a doubleheader on Feb. 28, starting at 2:00 p.m. Holy Cross returns 20 letterwinners from last season and welcomes eight newcomers.
