Baseball Falls To Army, 5-3

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Holy Cross baseball team fell to Army, 5-3, tonight in Patriot League action at Doubleday Field in the season finale. The Crusaders conclude the season with a 12-23 overall record (8-11 Patriot League), while the Black Knights improve to 21-20-1 overall (12-7 Patriot League). Junior Kyle Lister (Lincoln, R.I.) went 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Crusaders.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when senior Norm Roth (Orange, Conn.) tripled to left with one out bringing in senior Matt Perron (Auburn, Mass.) and then Roth scored on a throwing error by the pitcher with two outs. The Black Knights made it a 2-1 game in the bottom of the third and then took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Crusaders tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the sixth when freshman John Sills (Milton, Mass.) walked with two outs and was driven in with a double to center field by Lister. In the bottom of the inning the Black Knights scored two runs to take a 5-3 lead and Milan Dinga pitched a perfect seventh inning to earn his fifth save of the season. Nick Hill recorded the win as he allowed three runs with two earned on five hits in six innings.
