Bradenton, Fla. - The Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team bounced back after suffering a 7-6 loss to Holy Cross this morning to score 14 runs on 14 hits on its way to a 14-8 win over the Crusaders on Tuesday afternoon in Bradenton, Fla. Holy Cross dips to 2-2 this season, while IPFW improves to 3-4 overall.
Holy Cross put four runs up on the board in the first inning after a three-run home run by freshman shortstop Jake Gorman and a solo shot by third baseman Brian Abraham. IPFW came back to score six runs in the second to take a 6-4 lead, before the Crusaders posted three more runs in the bottom half of the inning, thanks to a Tom Potvin homer that drove in two runs.
But IPFW would not go away and scored three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
The Crusaders will play Bowling Green on Thursday, March 9 at 3:00 PM and again at 6:00 PM.
