Bradenton, Fla. - The Holy Cross baseball team won its second straight game with a 7-6 decision over Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday morning in Bradenton, Fla. The Crusaders are now 2-1 overall, while IPFW falls to 2-4.
Junior second baseman Tucker Frawley and sophomore designated hitter Kyle Lister were both 2-for-5 on the day and each drove in two runs to lead the Crusaders offensively. Lister drove a two-run homer over the fence in the second inning to give Holy Cross a 2-0 lead early on.
Sophomore pitcher Mike Thater earned his first win of the season after throwing three innings of relief of starter Matt Blake who went 5.0 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out two.
Freshman Tyler Stampone belted a double in the sixth inning.
The Crusaders face IPFW again this afternoon in game 2 of the double-header.
