WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior outfielder Evan Ocello (Camarillo, Calif.) and senior outfielder Brandon Cipolla (Abington, Mass.) were both selected to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-New England team, as voted on by the 17 New England colleges and universities who participate in Division I baseball. Ocello earned second team accolades for the second consecutive season, while Cipolla was named to the third team for the first time in his career.
Ocello, who was named first team All-Patriot League in 2013 and 2014, started in all 44 games this year for the Crusaders in right field. He batted .329 on the season with 57 hits, 34 runs, 10 doubles, three home runs and a Holy Cross single-season record 24 stolen bases. Ocello ranked third in the Patriot League in batting average, hits, runs, home runs and stolen bases.
Cipolla, who was named second team All-Patriot League the past three straight seasons, was the starting center fielder in all 44 games this season for Holy Cross. He posted a .301 batting average with 49 hits, 29 runs, 13 doubles, four home runs and 28 runs batted in. Cipolla led the Patriot League in doubles, while he ranked second in home runs and slugging percentage (.466), and third in RBIs. On Feb. 25, he was named Patriot League Player of the Week after he went 7-for-15 in the four-game series split at Mississippi State.
