Crusaders Tabbed First In PL By Collegiate Baseball Magazine

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross baseball team was projected to finish in first place in the Patriot League by Collegiate Baseball magazine, as published in the Jan. 3, 2014 issue. The Crusaders claimed their first Patriot League regular season crown last season, but were defeated in the conference championship series by Army.

The magazine also projected junior outfielder Evan Ocello (Camarillo, Calif.) as the Patriot League Player of the Year. Last season, Ocello batted .338 with 46 runs, 67 hits, three home runs, 25 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. Named first team All-Patriot League in 2013, he ranked first in the conference in runs scored and hits, while he was third in batting average.

Collegiate Baseball also listed senior outfielder Brandon Cipolla (Abington, Mass.) and junior pitcher Donny Murray (Walpole, Mass.) as top players to watch for the 2014 season.
