WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior pitcher Andrew Boyce (Avon, Conn.) was named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office for games from March 18-24. This is the first Patriot League weekly award for Boyce as he helped the Crusaders complete a four-game sweep of Yale on March 23-24.
Boyce appeared in all four contests over the weekend out of the bullpen as he picked up a pair of victories on Saturday and two saves on Sunday. For the week, he pitched five scoreless innings and allowed only one hit as he walked a pair of batters and had eight strikeouts. Thanks to Boyce's performance on Saturday, the Crusaders were able to come from behind during the final innings in both contests to claim the 5-4 and 7-6 victories. On Sunday, Boyce tossed 0.2 hitless innings in both games as he earned his first two saves of the year in 7-4 and 2-0 victories for Holy Cross.
This season, Boyce leads the team and the Patriot League with 13 appearances out of the bullpen. He holds a 2-2 overall record with two saves and a 6.98 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched.
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, March 27, as they travel to Cambridge, Mass. to take on Harvard at 3:30 p.m.
