Inclement Weather Halts Baseball Game At St. John's
QUEENS, N.Y. – Game one of a scheduled three-game series between the Holy Cross baseball team and St. John's was halted before the start of the fourth inning this afternoon due to a snow storm that caused poor visibility. The Crusaders were leading 3-2 in the contest, which will resume tomorrow, March 17, at 12:00 p.m., and be followed by one nine inning game. The third game has been cancelled.
Sophomore Evan Ocello (Camarillo, Calif.) led off the game with a single and stole second before advancing to third on a botched pickoff attempt. Senior Patrick Puentes (East Greenbush, N.Y.) brought Ocello home with a sacrifice fly. The Red Storm posted two runs in the bottom of the second to take the 2-1 lead, but the Crusaders responded in the top of the third as Puentes launched a two-out, two-run home run over the right field fence.
With the score 3-2, Holy Cross, the game is scheduled resume tomorrow at noon.
