John Colella Earns All-Northeast Region Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior closer John Colella (Herndon, Va.) has earned 2012 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) first team All-Northeast Region accolades.  

Colella was a first team All-Patriot League pick and named the team's MVP for his performances on the mound this past season. Colella led the team and Patriot League with 11 total saves, setting a new single-season record for the Holy Cross baseball program. The righty broke the Holy Cross career saves record back on March 31 against Bucknell and now has 20 saves in his career. He completed the 2012 slate with a record of 6-1 and boasted a team-low 2.32 ERA. He struck out 53 batters in 29 appearances. Colella was recently named a captain for the 2013 season, while he earned 2012 second team All-New England honors.

The Crusaders won a program-best 33 games this past season, while the squad's 13 wins in Patriot League play were also a team-best.
