Maldonado, Wadsworth & Olson Selected Preseason All-Patriot League

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Alex Maldonado (Brooklyn, N.Y.), junior Stephen Wadsworth (Wayland, Mass.) and junior Josh Olson (Woodbury, Minn.), members of the Holy Cross baseball team, have been selected to the 2012 Patriot League Preseason All-Conference Teams, as announced by College Sports Madness.

Maldonado was selected to the second team as an infielder. In 2011, Maldonado batted .299 over his sophomore season, scoring 41 runs and having 59 hits both team-high totals. The shortstop started in all 48 games for the Crusaders.

Wadsworth was also selected to the second team as an infielder. In 2011, Wadsworth batted .310 over his sophomore season, ranking third on the squad. The catcher and first baseman played in 44 out of 48 games for the Crusaders.

Olson was selected to the second team as an outfielder. In 2011, Olson batted .306 over his sophomore season, ranking fifth on the squad. The outfielder played in 27 out of 48 games for the Crusaders.

The Crusaders are looking to carry some momentum over from the 2011 season into the 2012 season. In its final game of the 2011 campaign, Holy Cross defeated Lehigh 10-2 to wrap up the season with an overall record of 24-23-1. The victory gave the Crusaders their first winning season since 1991, when they posted an overall record of 19-15-1.
