WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior shortstop Alex Maldonado (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named to the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League's 2011 All-League first team, announced by the PGCBL league office. Maldonado joins 18 other players from around the league after having a standout summer with the Watertown Wizards
Over the summer, Maldonado made the transition from shortstop to second base and finished with a batting average of .328, belting out 54 hits and scoring 30 times. He stole a total of 20 bases, which ranked third in the league and drove in 12 runs while also having 11 extra base hits.
As a sophomore at Holy Cross, Maldonado led the team with 59 hits, 41 runs scored and 17 stolen bases. He ranked third in Patriot League in runs scored and second in stolen bases. His 17 stolen bases also rank third amongst Holy Cross single season program records.
