Andrew Barry Receives Ron Soucie Award
WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman second baseman Andrew Barry (Puyallup, Wash.) has been named the 2011 recipient of the Ron Soucie Award. Created by his former teammates Rick DeAngelis (Class of 1970) and Tom Kelly (Class of 1967), the Soucie Award is presented annually to the Rookie of the Year on the Holy Cross baseball team.
During the 2011 season, Barry played in all 48 games for the Crusaders, starting 45 times. He posted a .220 batting average, to go along with two doubles, a home run, 16 runs scored and 21 runs batted in. Barry led all freshmen on this year's team in both total hits (29) and runs batted in (21).
