WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross baseball head coach Greg DiCenzo and the rest of the 2011 baseball team will host the seventh annual Leadoff Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 13 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Hogan Campus Center Ballroom. This year's alumni honorees will be Don Prohovich `56 and Tom Kelly `67.
Former General Manager of the Boston Red Sox and current founder and CEO of the Duquette Sports Academy, Dan Duquette, will serve as the keynote speaker for the event. As a baseball executive, Duquette successfully oversaw quick turnarounds during his tenure as General Manager of the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox, expanding fan interest in both markets to record-breaking levels. As Farm Director of the Expos from 1987 to 1991, Duquette helped build one of the most productive player development operations in the industry. After joining the Red Sox, he rebuilt the scouting staff and farm system from what was one of the least productive in the industry to one that has been the foundation of an elite franchise ever since. He has been honored twice as the Major League Baseball Executive of the Year, first by The Sporting News in 1992 with the Expos and later by the Boston Baseball Writers Association in 1995 with the Red Sox.
The evening will also include a silent auction of sports memorabilia, a social hour at 5:00 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 6:00 p.m. Members of the 2011 Crusader baseball team will be on hand with their families as well as many other Crusader alumni and friends.
Tickets for the dinner are $85 each or $65 for former Holy Cross baseball players and friends from the classes of 2005-2010. All proceeds will benefit the Holy Cross baseball program. In order to reserve a ticket, please fill out the registration form and send to the baseball office by Thursday, Feb. 10. For further information on the dinner, please contact head coach Greg DiCenzo via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
