Stephen Wadsworth Earns Freshman All-America Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman Stephen Wadsworth (Wayland, Mass.) has earned a spot on PingBaseball.com's 2010 Freshman All-America third team. Wadsworth is only one of four players from New England and one of two Patriot League players named to the site.
In just his freshmen season, Wadsworth saw playing time in 46 of the Crusaders' 52 games, starting 39 of them. In May, Wadsworth won the team's Ron Soucie award which is presented annually to the Rookie of the Year on the Holy Cross baseball team.
Wadsworth was named the 2010 Patriot League Rookie of the Year in baseball, as voted by the conference's head coaches in May. He was also selected to the second team All-Patriot League team, as well as the Patriot League All-Tournament team. Wadsworth earned All-Tournament honors for recording a .429 batting average in six games, and collecting nine hits in 21 at bats, including two doubles, four runs scored and three RBI.
Wadsworth finished his first collegiate season off with a .354 batting average, to go along with a .497 slugging percentage and a .419 on-base percentage. Wadsworth also totaled 25 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, three home runs and 37 runs batted in. Defensively, he committed just five errors for a .975 fielding percentage.
