WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior baseball captain John Sills (Milton, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week after his performances in the team's final regular season action last week. Sills went 3-for-5 at the plate in the season finale against Massachusetts with one run scored and three RBI, including his first home run this season.
Sills collects the league honor for the first time in his career. Sills also stole one base and collected two singles against Massachusetts, bringing his season total to 54 hits and 11 stolen bases. He is batting a career-best .318 so far and has also recorded a season-high 30 RBI. He has also drawn 21 walks this year, and owns a .406 on-base percentage.
Over the course of his collegiate career, Sills is hitting .263 with 92 runs scored, 18 doubles, seven home runs, 83 runs batted in and 29 stolen bases.
The Crusaders return to action on May 15-16 when they travel to Lehigh for the Patriot League Tournament semifinals for a best-of-three series. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, May 15 at 12:00 p.m. and, if necessary, a third game is scheduled for Sunday, May 16 at 3:00 p.m.
