WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross catcher/designated hitter Stephen Wadsworth (Wayland, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week after his performances in the team's nine games from April 19-25. Wadsworth batted .467 (14-for-30) with six runs and nine RBI.
Wadsworth collects the league honor for the first time in his career and first time this season. In last week's league action, Wadsworth was key in each of the team's doubleheader sweeps, going 3-for-7 with a run and an RBI against Lafayette on Monday and 5-for-7 with a run and five RBI in Sunday's two wins over Navy, including a 3-for-3, three RBI game to cap the four-game set. He notched at least one hit in each contest with four multi-hit and two multi-RBI efforts.
On the season, Wadsworth is batting .380 with a total of 41 hits and 31 RBI. He has scored 19 runs and has started in 28 games this season.
Holy Cross (21-19) will play its final Ivy League opponent on Tuesday, April 27, taking on Yale (17-19-1). The game will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Yale Field in New Haven, Conn.
