WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior outfielder Nick Ciardiello (Edison, N.J.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 22-28. Ciardiello went 11-for-20 with six runs scored, four doubles, three home runs and 14 runs batted in, as the Holy Cross baseball team posted a 4-1 record on the week.
Ciardiello opened the week by going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Thursday's 7-4 loss at Boston College. He then went 4-for-7 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs during Saturday's doubleheader sweep of NJIT. Ciardello concluded the weekend by going 5-for-9 with two homers and eight RBIs in another doubleheader sweep on NJIT on Sunday, including 6 RBIs in the first game.
On the season, Ciardiello leads the team with a .448 batting average, three home runs and 25 runs batted in. Over the course of his collegiate career, he is hitting .283 with 18 doubles, nine homers and 55 runs batted in.
Holy Cross (8-8 overall) returns to action on Tuesday, March 30, when it travels to Massachusetts for a 3:00 p.m. game.
