WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior righthanded pitcher Ryan George (Seekonk, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 15-21. George threw 3-2/3 scoreless innings and earned two saves, as the Holy Cross baseball team posted a 2-2 record in four games last week.
During Wednesday's 6-5 loss at Siena in 13 innings, George pitched 1-1/3 innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out two batters. He then picked up the save in the Saturday's 8-7 victory over Quinnipiac, fanning three batters without allowing a hit in 1-1/3 innings of work. George concluded the week by earning another save in Sunday's 6-4 win at Quinnipiac, striking out two batters in one perfect inning of relief.
On the season, George has an 0-1 record with an 0.90 earned run average, three saves and 14 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched. Over the course of his collegiate career, he owns a 5-11 record with 10 saves and 101 strikeouts in 104-2/3 innings.
Holy Cross (4-7 overall) returns to action on Tuesday, March 23, when it plays host to Connecticut at 5:00 p.m.
