Baseball Picked To Finish Third in Patriot League Preseason Poll
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross baseball team was selected to finish third in the 2010 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. The Crusaders finished third in the conference last season after being picked third in the 2009 preseason poll.
Defending Patriot League champion Army was picked first, earning 46 points and eight first-place votes. Bucknell was selected to finish second with 39 points and four first-place votes. Rounding out the voting was Holy Cross (35 points), Navy (27), Lafayette (21) and Lehigh (12).
The Crusaders rounded out the 2009 season with a 22-27 overall record, going 11-7 in the Patriot League. Head coach Greg Dicenzo enters his third season at the helm of the Holy Cross baseball team and returns 18 letterwinners to his lineup and adds 13 newcomers. The team will officially begin the 2010 season at Georgia Southern for a three-game series beginning Feb. 27 and going through March 1. The first game will start at 1:30 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium in Statesboro, Ga.
