Biography
Wise was a three-sport star at Holy
Cross, playing football, baseball, and basketball. In his
junior year in 1925, he helped the football team defeat Harvard for
the first time (7-6), and the squad followed it up with a second
consecutive victory in the series in 1926, a 19-14 come-from-behind
win. In his last two seasons, the football team went 15-3-2,
and his leadership was instrumental in the program's emergence in
the 1920s as an eastern power.
Following graduation, Wise went into teaching and coaching at
Cathedral High in Springfield, Mass. He passed away in
1981.
