Blasser batted .442 in freshman year at Holy Cross and continued to be strong hitter throughout his Crusader career. In 1939 he was hitting .511 by May 30 and finished the season with a .412 average. Considered by Coach Jack Barry as one of his greatest hitters, Blasser was also a fine fielder with a strong and accurate arm. In 1939 he drove in 34 runs in 16 games. During the 1940 season Dick was hitting close to .500 and was rated as one of the most powerful and consistent hitters in Crusader baseball history. He played in the Detroit Tigers' minor league system after graduation. He passed away in 1987.
