Noonan, a four year starter at catcher, teamed with fellow Hall of Famer Andy Coakley to form one of the all-time great Holy Cross batteries. Noonan made the varsity team while still in prep school, and as HC's starting backstop, he led the Crusaders in batting from 1901-04. After being captain of the 1904 team, he signed with the Philadelphia Athletics. He played three seasons in the major leagues, with the Athletics, Cubs and Cardinals. He was the manager of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York for many years following his retirement from professional baseball. He passed away in 1965.
