Norton was a four-year starter at shortstop for the Crusaders from 1914-17, and played on a pair of Eastern Intercollegiate Championship teams. He served as team captain as a sophomore and again as a senior. During his first year at Holy Cross he was the only starting freshman on a team which won the Eastern Intercollegiate Championship after posting a 16-5-1 record. The team again won the title with him serving as senior captain in 1917, when they had a record of 22-4. After graduation he served as a Navy officer for two years during World War I, played two years with Springfield in the old Eastern League and then began a long career as a teacher in Boston, Newton and Somerville. He retired in 1956 after serving as principal of Northeastern Junior High in Somerville for 33 years. He passed away in 1977.
