Scondras was a true three-sport star at Holy Cross. He ran, passed and kicked in football, scored often in basketball and was clean-up hitter in baseball with a batting average of .470 during one season. Scondras was a regular in three sports for three years and won nine (9) varsity letters. He joined the Marines early in World War II. He died at Iwo Jima on February 25, 1945, and thus was deprived of pursuing a professional baseball career.
