McCaffrey's 1,178 career points are even more impressive considering he scored them in just two seasons at Holy Cross. He had a spectacular 22.2 career scoring average. He was the Most Valuable Player of the 1986 MAAC Tournament, and a two-time All-New England and All-MAAC selection. In each of his final 13 games at Holy Cross, he topped the 20-point mark. He had one of the most spectacular games in Hart Center history, when he set the Hart Center scoring record with 46 points vs. Iona in 1985. In that game, he hit 18-of-25 field goals, 10-of-13 free throws and handed out 15 assists. He was named the Sports Illustrated Player of the Week for his efforts. A sixth round pick of the Phoenix Suns in 1986, McCaffrey co-starred with Celtics legend Larry Bird in a Nestle's Crunch commercial after graduation.
