Prohovich is one of a select few athletes in Holy Cross history to play in NCAA tournaments in both basketball and baseball. He played in three post-season basketball tournaments and two in baseball. He started on HC’s 1954 NIT champion team in the backcourt. In three years, he played on Crusader basketball teams that compiled a 67-14 record. In baseball, he was an All-American second baseman as a senior in 1956 when he batted .356, and also played in the 1954 and the 1955 NCAA playoffs. Holy Cross baseball teams were 41-11 during his three varsity seasons. He played six years of professional baseball twic reaching AAA. After his playing days were done he pursed a career in coaching and education.
