Giardi played three sports at Holy Cross, but will always be remembered as a truly great back in football during the “Golden Days” of Crusader football. He played under Dr. Eddie Anderson and his teams posted a 23-3-2 mark during his Crusader career.  He was primarily a blocking back for the great Bill Osmanski, but was an outstanding ball carrier in his own right and also excelled in the secondary. He helped the 1937 team to an unbeaten season and in 1938, with Giardi a two-way starter, the Crusaders were 8-1, losing only to Carnegie Tech, 7-6.
