Benching For Breast Cancer Continues To Raise Money & Awareness
WORCESTER, Mass. – The fifth annual Benching for Breast Cancer fundraising event took place on Friday, Dec. 7, in the Hart Center’s varsity weight room at the College of the Holy Cross. The event raised over $2,000 with all proceeds benefitting Pink Revolution, a Worcester-based breast cancer alliance of dedicated individuals with a unified commitment to those touched by breast cancer.
This year, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee teamed up with HC for a Cure in hopes to encourage all students, not just athletes to participate. A little over 500 students participated setting a record for the five-year event. The co-chairs of the event were senior women’s rower Michele Grenier (Menands, N.Y.) and senior volleyball player Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.).
Food was donated from Tee's Deli, Jay's Twisted Fork, Palace Pizza and SWEET! Head strength & conditioning coach Jeff Oliver's wife, Kate, also donated baked ziti and meatballs along with Kimball Dining Services, which donated baked ziti as well.
The Best Costume Award went to members of the men’s rowing team who dressed as KISS and the Most Enthusiastic Award went to the softball team.
