This semester, GoHolyCross.com will be featuring intern Zach Lanning in his own weekly series entitled “Zach Does Sports.” Every episode will feature a different varsity sport and will be composed of footage and interviews with some of the players. Zach will ask them about their seasons and let them exhibit the talents they have honed through years of hard work and preparation. The second half of each episode will feature the players becoming coaches and teaching, or attempting to teach, Zach a skill that is specific to each sport.
This week we profiled the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams to get their thoughts before heading off to the Patriot League Championships at Navy on Feb. 19-22. Junior Kristie Coleman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the women's swimming team and junior Brendan Higgins (Summit, N.J.) of the men’s diving team sat down for an interview and talked about thier season and some points of friendly contention between the two teams. Afterwards, Higgins graciously volunteered to coach Zach in an attempt to conquer the three-meter dive. Watch as Zach attempts to overcome both his crippling fear of heights and as he puts it, "crippling lack of coordination." Click below to watch the video and see what happens.
Make sure to tune in next week as Zach laces up his skates and tries his luck on the ice with members of the men's and women's varsity ice hockey teams.
